Where Is The Longest Glacier In The Alps?

Longest Glacier in the Alps, Valais – Switzerland

Hello everyone

It’s been a while that I have not written an article as part of my hobby. But, I guess this doesn’t happen only to me because we all have something else to do which needs to be prioritised. Well, you may think which you can that arrghh Didi Le Javanais is just trying to find an excuse! No no… it’s true that I’ve been super busy lately.

I know that the C-19 pandemic is still being managed therefore there are rules we all must adhere to prevent the propagation of C-19. The rules don’t prevent you from going from one to another place particularly when you’re about to travel to meet your family and friends in a certain zone within the country. The only thing you have to bear in mind is that you know what you are supposed to respect then you’re free to depart at anytime once your plans are well-organised. You know what I mean, don’t you?

Last month… to be precised, on july 10 2021 I went to the longest glacier in the Alps with some friends. Obviously, I would not have been to the said place if I had not been in touch with Flo, a very cool and smart friend from Basel. We chatted over the phone to exchange some news and planned to meet up somewhere once the travel restriction is loosened. In fact we did not have to wait for our reunion too long because the Swiss government allows the inhabitants to mobile within the country and respect the rules concerning the c-19 pandemic.

Flo asked me whether or not I liked hiking along the longest glacier in the Alps and during our teleconference he explained where the place was. As a sportif Balois he does not have any issue walking up side down the mountain because he’s used to do it. I confirmed and asked him to include me in the group of 4 people. He assured me that I have the proper equipment before leaving. So I made the list of what I was supposed to carry with as we would spend a night in the hut/cabane somewhere in the mountain.

The day has come and on 10 August I travelled from Geneva to Brig, a train station as our meeting point before taking the bus to a station of mountain cable car. We took a cable car and got off in Moosfluh then had our sandwhich before start walking right on the side of glacier. It was really wonderful experience. It was worth visiting to the longest aletsch arena.

Aletsch Arena, Le plus grand glacier en Alpes

This longest glacier in the Alps is called Aletsch Arena in the canton of Valais, the inhabitants mostly speak german and of course french and english. We walked almost 4 hours to get to the cabane, where we spent a night. On our way we took some breaks to take photos, films, enjoy the nature, etc. All my friends know that I am a Video Blogger and my YouTube channel’s name is Didi Le Javanais.

In fact I can tell you more about my travel story, but i guess you guys can’t wait to see the video and watch my explanation on how to get there and when can you come there. PENCAK SILAT IS AN INDONESIAN MARTIAL ART

When you look up where the Pencak Silat from is then you’ll find that it’s from Indonesia. This martial art has so many disciplines that have been practising since centuries. The Indonesian Pencak Silat Association is based in Jakarta, Indonesia.

On December 19, 2019 the Indonesian Pencak Silat martial arts has officially received its acknowledgement certificate or an intangible cultural heritage certificate from the United Nations educational, scientific and cultural organization ( UNESCO ).

Speaking of Pencak Silat, I firstly knew and tried this traditional self-defense when I was kid ± 9 years old. I practiced with my childhood friends in the village and I began to like it as I realise that it’s important to know some techniques to protect myself whenever I am being threatened. You must know that children in the village liked to challenge themselves with other children. However, nowadays none can challenge or act as superiors than other as everything is regulated, I meant using force against others violates the laws.

If you are curious about what martial art that I practice is you can go to this Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/silatperisaidirigeneva/

Now you know about one of my hobbies that I practice regularly. If you like the information I share don’t hesitate to subscribe, follow my Facebook page, YouTube channel.

Thanks for your support and I wish you a nice day/time!!
Love you all

How The Indonesians Living Abroad Celebrate The National Batik Day in 2022?

Indonesian diaspora from Switzerland and France get together to celebrate the national batik day in front of the UN’s premises (photo; Didi Le Javanais)

Living abroad for Indonesians can be very interesting and challenging. The interesting part is that they can directly see and feel the cultural differences, like four seasons in a year, different languages, etc. And the challenging part is that they can miss their family members, relatives, friends, homesick, preferred foods particularly for those who have just resided in a certain country abroad. All these have to be managed well otherwise life isn’t so colourful.

Speaking of celebrating a certain national special day like independence day, religious events are always intriguing because people take the best moment to meet and greet their friends who living in other cities of the same country. Some new comers for example are eager to make new friends. It crates a great atmosphere.

There are many ways to celebrate the national special day like The National Batik Day for the Indonesian diaspora in Switzerland and some cities in France. One of them is to get together in front of the UN’s premises, to make a spontaneous fashion show, and singing a national song. They celebrate the National Batik Day on the 2nd October 2022 and promote the Kebaya to the UNESCO simultaneously.

It was a perfect day where they celebrate the national batik day as the weather was warm enough and above all it was on Sunday so people were laid back, I would say. I myself am happy that I could join in celebrating the national batik day and I was able to make a short film on their activities. The event won’t be materialised without a coordinator. If you want to see more how the Indonesian diaspora in Switzerland celebrates the national batik day in 2022, you can click this link https://youtu.be/-sElUXmLL5o and watch it till the end. Don’t forget to support the channel, too.

Voice of Baceprot (VoB) Indonesian Rocker In Hijab Made A Concert at Le-Rez, Usine, Geneva – Switzerland

Hello rockers and non-rockers !!

Three groups of rockers performed in Usine, Geneva – Switzerland
The Third Project – A rocker group from Annecy, France
Performance of Voice of Baceprot (VoB)

This article is a very special for me because I’ve never written any of this in my life. The reason for this is that I was not sure whether or not I like rock music.

I always have an impression that rock or metal music is nothing else but just showing brutality. Why I have this kind of impression is that because I witnessed some fans looked so scary and most of the time I’ve seen them deal with the vandalism. However, this might be true but a little did I know that many fans of metal musics are indeed super cool. In fact, they love a peaceful life and enjoy the instruments played by the musiciens. In addition, they love the message addressed through the lyrics. I am not sure whether it’s true or not but often times I read rockers have issues with the drugs addiction or with alcoholism. They consume these stuff in a regular basis and I personally have no problems with this kind of stuff because I am sure that the drug consumers are very much aware of the consequences. Anyway, I won’t talk about it in this article.

So guys, don’t get me wrong but I won’t prejudice against the rockers, the fans or metal musics and I am very happy to see people like them enjoy their lives without bothering other people.

Some time before the concert took place, I was told by a friend of mine in Geneva that there would be rockers from Indonesia called Voice of Baceprot coming to have their concert in Geneva. I checked out online who they are. To my surprise, they’re all young girls in Hijab meaning that they’re moslem women who play rock music. Wow wow wow !! I said to myself. This never existed in my life before. So I asked myself whether or not I want to go because on Friday 10 December is the day where I practice my lovely sport – badminton. On the day of the event, I let my friend know that I would be coming to the concert.

This concert was really fantastic !! I didn’t expect that I could enjoy the kind of rock music performed firstly by the French rocker – The Third Project is the name of the group. I even recorded their performance for more than 30 minutes non-stop. The second rocker came namely Voice of Baceprot (VoB) and this group that the spectators were waiting for. They performed more than 40 minutes!! Everyone was super happy, they danced a lot!! The third rocker is called Spawnkill, this rocker is mainly performing the metal instruments.

If you are fans of metal or rock musics, I can assure you will like to spend some time to watch their performances. This can be done by visiting my YouTube channel. Here is the link – https://www.youtube.com/c/DidiLeJavanais
