General understanding about Ramadhan is that it is a month where moslems people are requested to perform the fourth of five pillars in the Islamic religion. Based upon Gani (2015)’s article which is published in The Guardian, Ramadhan is” the ninth month in the Islamic calendar, …”
Many of us have thought that fasting in the holy month of Ramadhan which lasts for ≈ 30 days is nothing else than completing the fourth pillars besides performing other religious activities. Apart from the existing literature that provides us with much broader insights into Ramadhan, I’d like to shed light on it from the perspective of humanity.
Let me first cite what has been written by the world food programme (WFP) on its website, where starvation is one of the causes that can end the life of people. There are about more than 790 million of people from Africa, Asia, Latin America to the Near East that are struggling to obtain proper food. Further, you might have come across a video that documents a hunger in Africa (see the link in the reference).
To some extent, fasting encourages you to feel what other people feel when they are hungry and can’t buy food as they have no resources. Well, you probably don’t feel hungry because you can afford it at any time.
How do you feel when you’re hungry? Of course you feel like to eat. But, can you manage not to eat and drink for 18 hours while conducting your daily activities?. I doubt about it. Some say, it is impossible to be productive and yeah no way jose or give it a try. I myself found it haaarrddd…
Now I’m waiting for my sauuuurrrr time.
